The Community Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador (CFNL) is building an enduring legacy to strengthen the quality of life in our province.

Our vision is thriving Newfoundland and Labrador communities where everyone belongs. We realize this by inspiring generosity in those with Newfoundland and Labrador on their hearts and connecting them with diverse resources, ideas and people to invest in the possibility of this place together.

How Can I Give?

  • Set up a fund – Remember a family member or start a giving legacy by setting up a fund. Learn more with CFNL’s Giving Guide
  • Credit Card –  You can donate to CFNL or one of the funds we steward using the below form
  • Cheque or Cash to Community Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador, Suite 209, 31 Peet Street, St. John’s, NL, A1B 3W8
  • Publicly Listed Securities – reach out to a CFNL staff member for a donation form.
  • Make a Bequest – Donors can designate a specific gift or portion of their estate to CFNL. Work with CFNL to create a fund that can be included in your will, making giving simple and flexible for the future. Fund agreements can be amended with CFNL at any time.  Contact a CFNL staff member for sample Will clauses.
  • Life Insurance – Life insurance allows you to make extraordinary gifts at a manageable cost. There are several options. You may purchase a new policy naming CFNL as the owner and irrevocable beneficiary of the policy.   Or, you may transfer an existing policy to CFNL.  Another option is to name CFNL as the beneficiary of your policy.  There are different tax advantages for each of these options. Talk to your Financial Advisor about what makes the most sense for you.
  • US Donors – Through its membership in the Community Foundations of Canada, CFNL can provide tax receipts for US Donors who have Newfoundland and Labrador on their heart. Contact a CFNL staff member to learn more.
  • Retirement Plans – You can designate CFNL as a beneficiary of your Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) or Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF). By donating an RRSP or RRIF, you will offset the tax that would otherwise be payable on these assets by your estate.
  • Real and Personal Property or Private Shares –  Donate by reaching out to a CFNL staff member.
  • For Anonymous Donors – CFNL will ensure that your gift or fund remains a quiet contribution benefiting the community.
