A Story of Kindness from the North Shore of Conception Bay | Nominated by the Town of Small Point to Adam’s Cove
Robyn and Scott had been forced from their home by fire once before. This time, they used that experience to support their community.
When the Adam’s Cove and Kingston fires came in 2025, Robyn Dwyer and Scott Chandler knew what their neighbours were facing having been through forest fires while they lived in Alberta. They pitched in through both evacuations, re-entry and recovery, bringing their calm, steady leadership to a very anxious time. Sadly, they were also among the many community members who lost their homes.
Today, they’re still giving back as long-time cadet officers with the Victoria Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps, sharing that same steady leadership with young people every week.
Best Kind Giving was glad to help Robyn and Scott make their new house in Carbonear feel like home, and Carbonear Home Hardware stepped up to make that support go even further.
Know someone who is always giving back and could use some support? Nominate them today.
Support the North Shore Volunteer Fire Department
When the 2025 wildfires came, volunteer firefighters were the first line of defence for homes and families on the North Shore. As fire seasons grow longer and more intense, your gift helps make sure the neighbours who answer the call have the gear, training and capacity to do the job safely.
