Margaret Miller, CFRE

Director

Margaret is a proud Newfoundlander, experienced professional fundraiser, and independent business consultant. She is an advocate of strategic philanthropic giving with a strong belief in the power of personal relationships and professional partnerships to achieve great things. Working in the academic and healthcare sectors, in three provinces, for over twenty years, she has successfully managed and grown complex portfolios of individual, corporate, and foundation donors, raising significant major gifts to support multiple successful campaign wins.

As the owner of Miller Philanthropy Consulting, Margaret has worked with numerous charities in an advisory and consulting role, enabling them to build their fundraising capacity and raise more funds in support of their missions. She works with executives and nonprofit boards to plan and build strategic fund development plans, including major gift and planned giving programs. She also works in partnership with ViTreo Group in Calgary, AB, as a Senior Associate on major campaign and fund development planning consulting projects.

Margaret is an alumna of Memorial University of Newfoundland, holding 3 degrees, Master of Business Administration, Master of Science and Bachelor of Science. An active volunteer in a variety of professional and community organizations, she has served as a member of Rotary International and is an active member in the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP). She was appointed to the board of the AFP Canada Foundation in 2024 and is currently an active volunteer with Puppets Up!, serving as the sponsorship lead for this unique festival in Almonte, Ontario.

Margaret is the mother of two amazing sons, Matthew and Sam, who live in St. John’s. She is a cat lover, gardener and naturalist, an avid reader, quilter, artist, and a pretty good cook. She lives in Almonte, ON, with her husband Michael and their three cats.
